Many of these aren't even possible, but still work thanks to Rule of Cool, Rule of Glamorous, Rule of Scary, etc.
On the other hand, some of the tropes that occur in real life just seem to be in stories for the heck of it, but just as often as not these tropes will convey a Meaningful Appearance (especially if they only show things that way in fiction, such as ways you can visibly identify a villain).
